Spangels 1 Headhunters 10

Charlie Turnbull Trophy Round One

Spangels were trashed today by Division Two side Headhunters in round one of the Charlie Turnbull Trophy. Few players did themselves justice in a match which they were never in. Even the solitary goal scored by the home side was an own goal...

Team : Seymour, Lynch, Ramsay, Pritchard, Theobald (C), Rivett, Winsborough (Hagan), Livermore, Collis, Williams, Todd (Underdown).

Overlooking our icecapades on the pitch we should see this as a successful reservation of energy and injury avoidance.

What is more shocking, even more so than the good lady ref's comment 'I can't be expected to watch every bit of play' as the ball was thrown in the back of the net from the side line ...... was that the Spangles football team were a no show for their own Christmas do.

Thankfully their 5 a-side team (Lynch, Wilson, Lowe, Theo, Craig & sub Williams) were there to take the mantle.

Woeful ... utter sht. Even Jay Smith's team managed at least 7. Franken Stucky counting as one rather than the sum of his parts.

That said, it was a good day/ night, most memorable for Wilson being planted face first in a billboard and Lynch being forcefulably introduced to a Citreon van bonnet ... and then some gravel (sorry again).

Xmas comes but once a year ..... unlike Lynch biting gravel.

Couldn't have put it better myself. If the ref' had disallowed the thrown in goal, the game would've been completely different...

As for the drinkies afterwards, some of those that failed to show (i.e. me) would like to add that this non-appearance is not typical and in fact replicates the norm from some of those who did attend.

Xmas comes but once a year, eh Theo...
