2005 - The Return Of Spangels...

With 2006 almost upon us, now might be a good time to review 2005, a year which saw the re-birth of Spangels Football Club...

September 2005

Sun 04 Panfield Bell Rovers A 1 9
Sun 11 AFC Foxco H 2 0
Sun 18 Royal United H 2 0
Sun 25 Chelmer Village Athletic H 1 5

September was a month of high & lows for the members of Spangels. The first league fixture of the season saw a heavy defeat away to a strong Panfield Bell Rovers side and prehaps many of the squad felt "getting back out there" might have been a bad idea. However, things quickly improved, with two homes wins on the trot which proved there was life in the old dog(s) yet.

October 2005

Sun 02 Boars Sports Reserves (Essex County FA Junior Trophy Round One) H 1 6
Sun 16 Boars Sports Reserves A 2 7
Sun 23 Orange Tree A 1 2

October was a month which failed to bring any wins, but despite this Spangels showed sings of improvement, with the unlucky away defeat to Orange Tree a prime example of this.

November 2005

Sun 06 Engine Room (League Cup Quarter Final) A 5 1
Sun 20 Boars Sports Reserves H 6 2

Glorious November brought a few fixture problems, but more importantly wins, for Spangels. The excellent cup quarter-final victory over Engine Room was quickly followed by a stunning revenge performance against Boars Sports Reserves. Things looked on the up, as confidence returned to the squad.

December 2005

Sun 04 Engine Room H 2 3
Sun 18 Headhunters (Charlie Turnbull Trophy Round One) H 1 10

Oh dear! A poor December saw two defeats, one of these an absolute hiding by Headhunters. Not what had been hoped for and certainly a worry going into the new year. However, eight league games played, with hopefully eight to go (depending on Hogs FC's involvement) should give the team enough chances to maintain a respectably mid-table finish. And don't forget, there's that cup semi-final to come...
