Orange Tree 2 Spangels 1

BNESL Division Three

Whilst the Manager was on an “away game” in Scotland, stand in manager Daniel Sayer made four changes for the trip to Witham to play Orange Tree. In a fair and open match Orange Tree took the lead against the run of play. Spangels enjoyed much the greater possession and when Lowe pulled up with a recurrence of his hamstring problem Sayer had no choice but to bring himself on in a straight swap (weight of body for weight of experience!).

Spangels made the most of the change and equalized through Waldock, making his first appearance of the season, after good build up play by the team put him through. However Spangels failed to capitalise on the momentum this provided and fell behind again, to make the score 2-1 at the break.

The second half mimicked the first with Spangles pushing and pressing but the equalizer never came despite good build up play, numerous corners and long range efforts from Wilson and Sayer.

Another forced change saw Wilson go off and Underdown on, but Spangels were still unable to find the net and force home the advantage of possession. The game finished 2-1 leaving Spangels disappointed with the result, but not the performance. However brighter times are ahead at King George if the team continues to play like this.

Team; Seymour, Lynch, Tivey, Theobald ©, Waldock (1), Wilson (Underdown), Windsborough, Lowe (Sayer), Collis, Whiteman, Hagan.

Spangels MOM : The team performance!

You forgot to mention that for their 2nd goal two of them were a mile offside - with the flag raised and the defence stopped the referee chose to ignore it!!

Cracking team performance with some outstanding displays from Lynch, Collis, Whites, Wilson, Waldock............... but for me Theobald was immense at the back - won absolutely everything in the air, something Spangels have not always been the best at!
